Ronald J. Reid, a longtime White Plains resident died unexpectedly on October 24, 2018 at the age of 77. Born in Brooklyn on November 9, 1940, he was the son of Andrew Edward and Frances Harty Reid. He was raised in Wantagh, NY. After graduation from Chaminade High School, he attended St. Leo’s College in Florida where he was a member of the first graduating class. He went on to earn his BA at Notre Dame University. Continuing his studies, he completed his Master’s at the University of Florida and was in the PhD program at Columbia University.
Ron had a long career in Real Estate having been a realtor in Westchester for over 40 years. During that time he was a member and Past President of the Board of Realtors of Westchester County. Ron formed his own brokerage and consulting firm, American Properties. His specialty was nonprofit and special use facilities. He had also been Public Relations Director for Westchester Community College.
Ron was a parishioner of the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills where he had sung in the choir for a time and was a member of the Parish Council. Ron was happiest when assisting others by doing what he could to make their lives easier. From helping neighbors to working with the Open Gate Center in Armonk, he was always doing his best to help others.
Ron is survived by Marilyn Molloy, his beloved wife of 15 years, his daughter Donna Reid (John) Staab, his daughter Christine Reid, his step-son Marc (Amanda) Molloy as well as his grandchildren Jackson and Aiden Molloy and Taylor, Damien and Hunter. He also leaves behind countless friends and business associates.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Friday November 9, 2018 from 4PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at the Church of the Magdalene at 10:30 AM.
