Robert Horner Obituary

Robert Martin Horner, 90, passed away on October 24, 2019 at his home in Briarcliff Manor, NY. He was born on February 10, 1929 in Brooklyn to Michael and Marion Hosey Horner.

Robert grew up in Woodhaven, attended local schools and graduated from Pace College with a degree in business. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army and will be interred in one of the National Cemeteries. He worked for many years as an assessor for the Finance Department of New York City; he also had worked for Citicorp Mortgage and briefly was a partner in a certiorari firm.

He was married in 1963 to his wife, Patricia, who survives him; a son Neil, of Massachusetts; a granddaughter Alexandria of Idaho; a sister Barbara Hartmann of Pennsylvania; 7 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews and 7 great grand nieces and nephews.

A parishioner of Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, he was known for his faith and wit. He loved watching sports and the stock market on TV and he enjoyed the pets he had over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 6PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Transfiguration Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM followed by burial with military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.
