Maria Cotarelo, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother died unexpectedly on June 13, 2019 at the age of 81. Maria was born in Cuba on March 22, 1938 and was the youngest child of Luis and Maria Prado Hernandez.
After the revolution Maria and her husband Adolfo decided to flee Cuba. Adolfo went ahead to get established in the United States and later sent for his wife and two young children. That was in 1962. Maria and Adolfo settled in the Tarrytowns where they raised their family. They eventually bought a house in Sleepy Hollow. She worked for many year in the paint shop of General Motors. She was a member of UAW Local 664.
Maria was an avid Bingo player and she will be remembered as being a loving person with a big heart. She would help anyone she could and was a friend to all.
She is survived by her loving family including her daughter Rita (Frederick) Pelletier and her son Jose (Donna). Also surviving are her adored grandchildren Cristina, Jennifer, Brian, Greggory and Marina and her cherished great grandchildren Brennan, Aviana, Asher, Giada and Violet. She was predeceased by her husband Adolfo and her sister and six brothers.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4PM to 8PM at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00. Entombment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
