Lisa Michelle Duran

Lisa Michelle Duran, a resident of Nyack, New York, passed away at home surrounded by family on November 5, 2014.  She was 38 years old.

Lisa was born on November 28, 1975 to Marie and Richard Duran in Hartford, CT and then raised in Enfield, CT.  Lisa earned a double Master’s Degree from NYU and Hunter College. In addition, she studied abroad in Sydney, Australia. She was employed as a teacher in the New York City Public Schools. 

Lisa was affiliated with many organizations which include Voices Against Brain Cancer, Fred's Team for Cancer Research, New York Roadrunners Club and Rivertown Runners.  In addition, two causes close to Lisa's heart were the ASPCA and the Arbor Society.

Lisa was a loving and caring mother to her son Aiden M. Dunn. Also surviving are her father Richard Duran of Myrtle Beach, SC; her mother Marie Duran and her husband Walter Felix of Silver Springs, FL; her brother Michael Duran and sister-in-law Gigi of Kansas City, MO; nieces Michaela and Michelle Duran; Grandmother Amelia Ierna; her Aunt Rosemarie and Uncle Bob Kellogg; and her fiancée David Cova of Tarrytown.  Also surviving are Lisa's lifelong friends Angela Earley-Alves and Courtney Leborious.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Her funeral will be on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home at 10:00 AM.  Interment to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
