James J. Mullin of Yorktown Heights died November 21, 2018 at the age of 82. Born in the Hill Creek (Olney Section) of N. E. Philadelphia, he was the son of Paul and Kathryn Ryan Mullin. Jim earned degrees from LaSalle University, University of Notre Dame and Rutgers University.
After many years serving with the de La Salle Christian Brothers, Jim left to fulfil his desire to have a family and continue his career in education. Early in his career with the Brothers, he taught at LaSalle University and Central Catholic High School on Ohio. Later in his career he was Assistant Principal at Briarcliff High School and then became Principal at Westlake High School. Even in retirement he continued teaching at Manhattanville College. Jim also volunteered his time as a driver for Ride Connect and he taught chess to students at Pleasantville Middle School.
He was an avid sports fan, usually found on a golf course or tennis court.
Jim was a beloved and loyal friend to many and a devoted father, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his daughters Tara (Mitch) Birrittella and Annmarie (Bill) Dale, his grandchildren Heather (Diego) Lamberto and Quincy Mullin and his brother Paul (Peg) Mullin. He is also survived by his dear friend Mary Ann Kerlin, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son Major James David Mullin.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 4PM to 8PM. His Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at the Church of the Magdalene at 10:00 with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
