Sr. Hélène Louise (Celine) Zimmerman, RSHM, 90, died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, January 15, 2019.
Born in New York, NY, on February 10, 1928, to Edward and Helen Sexton Zimmerman, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1948.
A gifted musician, Sister Hélène Louise taught and inspired her students with an understanding and love of music at Marymount Secondary School, Tarrytown, NY; Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY; and Marymount Manhattan College, New York, NY; and also at the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Tarrytown, NY, and The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, NY. She was organist at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, director of the Old Mill Singers, Ossining, NY, and choir director and organist for St. Paul’s on the Hill, Ossining, NY.
She is survived by cousins and by the members of her religious community.
Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Wake Thursday, January 17, 4:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, January 18, 10:30 am.
