Alphonso A. Smith

Alphonso A. Smith, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, N, died on September 20, 2017 with his family by his side. He was 91.

Mr. Smith was born August 24, 1926 to Joseph and Nellie Gay Smith in Hastings-on-Hudson. On November 21, 1945, he married the love of his life Helen E. Brown.

A World War II Navy ‘Seabee” Veteran, Mr. Smith served on the USS Pickaway. He received the Bronze Star, Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal 1st Star.

He is survived by his three children, Alexis Pelliccio of Boca Raton, FL, Jeffrey J. Smith (Kendra) of Oregon and Craig A. Smith of Tarrytown, NY. He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren, as well as a sister Josephine Smith of Canaan, NY and Daughter-in-Law Donna Smith of New Windsor, NY.

He is predeceased by his wife Helen E. Smith in 1995 and his son William J. Smith in 2017.

Visitation will be held on Thursday 9/28 from 4-8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown. On Friday morning there will be a procession from Coffey Funeral Home to White Plains Rural Cemetery for a Veterans Burial Service at 10:00 a.m.
