Vincent J. Carroll, of Elmsford and formerly of the Tarrytowns, died on February 24, 2010. He was 78.

            Mr. Carroll was born on February 13, 1932 to Thomas J. and Annie Sloane Carroll in North Tarrytown. He worked for 56 years as a plumber and member of the United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States & Canada. He was a Life Member of the Washington Irving Boat Club and a 55 year member of the Hope Hose Company of the Tarrytown Fire Department where he had been an active member and more recently as an associate/honorary member.  He had served as Boy Scout Leader for Troop 27 of Pocantico Hills. He was a Little League Baseball Coach for several years. He was a lover of animals and had also been a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also had served in the United States Marine Corps and was very proud of that service.

            He was a devoted and loving husband of 57 years to Mary “Joyce” Sheekey Carroll who was from Newport, RI. He was a loving father to his children and grandchildren He enjoyed the ocean and being with his wife (“his girl”) He will be remembered for his wonderful smile and his witty sense of humor.

            He is survived by his wife Mary-Joyce of Elmsford as well as his children: James F. (Debra) of New York City, Debbie A. (Manny) Busto of Tarrytown, John (Mary Anne) of Towson, MD, and Tim (Jennifer) of Yorktown as well as 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sr. Kathleen Carroll who was a longtime teacher of Transfiguration School who now resides in Worchester, MA.

            Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Sunday at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME INC. in Tarrytown. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday at the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills. His interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
