Frederick O. Meister, a lifelong Tarrytown resident, died on July 5, 2010. He was 88.
Mr. Meister was born on Feb. 28, 1922 to Frederick and Lillian Snyder Meister in Tarrytown. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army where he served from 1942-1946 and was a World War II Veteran. He was Past President and Director of National Affairs for the National Association Purchasing Management, Seven Counties in 1976. He was also Past Persident and Council Member of the Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church. In addition he was a 60 + year Life Active Member of Washington Engine Co. # 2 of the Tarrytown Fire Department where he was a Past President, Board of Director and Treasurer (over 40 years). He presented numerous seminars on behalf of the Seven Counties Purchasing Management Association in Westchester during the 1970’s. He was the recipient of the Harry L. Moore Award in 1978 as the purchasing Man of the Year. He also loved to golf, fish, hike and read. He was predeceased by his longtime wife Joan R. Gillie on September 17, 1990.
He is survived by his 3 daughters Linda (Per-Olof) Lund of Sweden, Lois (John) Pedro of Nanuet, and Lori (William) Bailey of Hopewell Junction as well as his 5 grand daughters Stephanie and Allison Pedro as well as Caitlin, Amanda, and Julia Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME in Tarrytown. His interment will be at 10:30 on Saturday at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
