Sr. Denise Osterhaus, RSHM

Sr. Denise Osterhaus 90, died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

A Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 70 years, Sr. Denise taught at the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Manhattan, Sacred Heart of Mary Academy in the Bronx, and Mother Butler Memorial High School in the Bronx.

Sr. Denise served in Africa for 47 years, most of the time in Zimbabwe. She was teacher and superior at Marymount School in Umtali; in charge of social communications for the Catholic Bishops Conference; Secretary and Chair of the Conference of Major Superiors. She taught in several other schools and was a pastoral minister.

She returned to the United States in 2008 to Marymount Convent in Tarrytown, NY, where she was living at the time of her death.

Sr. Denise is survived by nieces and nephews and by the members of her religious community.

Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Thursday, August 3, 4:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, August 4, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
