Sr. Amy (Amelia) Pomponio, RSHM, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY.
Born Lorraine Marie Pomponio in South Plainfield, NJ, on August 20, 1931, to Michael and Amelia Visco Pomponio, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary at Marymount in Tarrytown, NY, on September 8, 1951.
Sr. Amy taught in New York at Gerard School, NYC: St. Catharine of Alexandria, Brooklyn; Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Sag Harbor, NY; St. Mary, Long Island City; in Virginia at St. Bridget, Richmond, VA; and in Colombia, South America in Medellin, Bogota, and Beunaventura. She was a social worker at Little Flower Children’s Services, Wading River, NY.
She was living at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, at the time of her death.
She is survived by nieces and cousins and by the members of her religious community.
Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Wake Tuesday, May 16, 4:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, May 17, 10:30 am.
