Robert W. Kupp of Tarrytown and formerly of Rye died January 15, 2017. He was born on July 28, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan.

He worked as a nuclear engineer and in the environmental field. During WW II, while in the Army, he worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, TN.

He was an avid sailor and was the celestial navigator in a Bermuda Race. He was the author of 3 books on energy, environment and world issues. He loved painting pictures of cities he had visited in Europe. He also loved listening to classical music and visiting museums.

Robert was predeceased by his first wife and 2 daughters. He is survived by his wife Joan Ellen Di Preta, 2 step sons Eric and Greg and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth, granddaughter Julia, grandson Peter and his brother Bill. He also has 2 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren in North Carolina
