Sullivan-Madeline P, 83, died peacefully Wednesday in her Burlington Vermont home. Born July 6, 1933 in the Bronx to Madeline (Hawkins) and Cornelius Connelly, she lived in Queens and then moved to Sleepy Hollow, NY where she lived for 43 years before moving to VT in 2012. In addition to her father, she was raised by her Aunts and Uncle, Kitty Connelly, Jean and Leo Burke and stepmother Dorothea Murtha Connelly. She was a devoted daughter to them all. She enjoyed several years working for the New York Telephone Company before becoming a mother of four. She was an active volunteer in the Tarrytown schools, with Phelps Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, at Transfiguration and Church of the Magdalene, and the Sleepy Hollow Manor Garden Club. An avid reader, bridge player and traveler, her life was truly enriched by the love of her beloved husband John. Together they enjoyed many fun adventures and endless gatherings with friends and family. She will be remembered as an elegant, generous woman who embodied grace and compassion, channeling the sorrows of her life into deep connections with those around her.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her children Joanne and John Sullivan, sister Lynn Trunfio, sisters-in-law Eileen and Joan, and brother-in-law Bob. She is survived by her daughters Jeanne Sullivan and Madeline Sullivan-Drake, both of Vermont, her sons-in-law Christopher Gillespie and Thomas Drake, daughter-in-law Mary Brosnahan and grandchildren, Guthrie, Morgan, Teagan, Kyra, Henry, Quinn, Riley and Rowan, She is also survived by her brothers Cornelius and Bill Connelly, sister Tara Haines, sisters-in-law Kaye, Joan and Sheila, brothers-in-law; Jim, Bill, Tony and many nieces, nephews, cousins and grandnieces and nephews. Many thanks to the staff at The Converse Home, VNA Hospice of Chittenden County, Armistead Caregivers and Maria Fatima de Sousa for many years of friendship and care.

Visitation will be on Friday December 2, at Coffey Funeral Home from 3 to 7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be on Saturday December 3 at 10:00 at the Church of the Magdalene, 525 Bedford Rd, Tarrytown, NY with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
