Joseph S. Bracchitta of Briarcliff Manor and formerly of North Tarrytown died February 2, 2016 at the age of 81. Born in North Tarrytown on January 28, 1935, he was the son of Joseph and Lucy Parrino Bracchitta. Joseph was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School. He served in the National Guard and played the clarinet in the 552nd Air Force Band. In July of 1956, he married Louise Guglielmo in Immaculate Conception Church.
Joseph was the founder and owner of Sleepy Hollow Custom Kitchens. He was an avid golfer and had been a member of Knollwood Country Club for many years. He was a music lover and particularly liked classical music and Big Band jazz. He was also an avid Yankee fan.
Joseph is survived by Louise, his loving wife of almost 60 years as well as his sons Joseph F. (Teresa) of CT and Kevin of Tarrytown. Also surviving are his 3 grandchildren, his aunt Lena Maroth, his step-brother Frank Tumino, 3 cousins and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Bracchitta and Lucy Bracchitta Tumino as well as his step-brother Ralph Tumino.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. His Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00 at St. Theresa’s Church in Briarcliff with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Assn or Calvary Hospital would be appreciated. The Bracchitta family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Calvary Hospital for the wonderful care and kindnesses shown to Joseph.
