Joel H. Frutkin, a longtime Tarrytown resident died August 29, 2015 at the age of 74. Born in Brooklyn on August 9, 1941, he was the son of William and Bertha Ellenbogen Frutkin.

Joel served proudly in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969. He went on to earn his degree and a Master’s Degree and had been a music teacher in the Tarrytown Schools. He loved music and was a Jazz Guitarist and at one time had owned a music store in New York City. Joel had also taught special needs children early in his career.

Joel was predeceased by his loving wife Sondra Heller on January 28, 1998. He is survived by his loving daughters Genevieve (Jenny) and her husband Bill Kohn and Jocelyn Kolanovic and his son Jeremy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jered and Adriana Kolanovic and Brandon and Jason Kohn as well as his sister Linda Crispell and his brother Orrie Frutkin. Also surviving are his nieces Debbie (Bob) Lutz and their children Tommy and Bobby, Donna (Doug) Broberg and their children Danny, Diana and David and his nephew Alan (Kitty) Crispell and their son Will.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday (today) from 2-14 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 at Temple Beth Abraham in Tarrytown with burial to follow in Sharon Gardens Cemetery.
