Joann Cerussi, a longtime Ossining resident died on January 27, 2018 after a long illness. She was 71. Born in Bronx, NY on April 18, 1946, she was the daughter of Jasper and Mary Palazzola Cangelosi. On October 8, 1968, she married Albert Cerussi, Jr. in Immaculate Conception Church on Gun Hill Road. In 1974, the family settled in Tarrytown where they lived until moving to Ossining in 1982.
Joann was a parishioner of St. Augustine Church in Ossining and a former parishioner of Transfiguration Church. She was beloved by many and will be remembered as a tireless advocate for people. She enjoyed helping others and was a volunteer with the Midnight Run, The Missionaries of Charity in the South Bronx and she worked with Sr. Laura Fitzgerald in the South Bronx.
Joann was the beloved wife of Albert Cerussi, Jr. who survives and she was the devoted mother of Albert (Natalie) Cerussi, III of San Jose, CA and Nicole Cerussi (William Trinkle) of Gardiner, NY. She was the loving grandmother of 8 and she is also survived by her loving sister Carolyn Alexander of Newcomb, NY
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 5PM to 8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Augustine Church on Friday at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
