Jennie Variano

Jennie Variano, a former resident of Sleepy Hollow, NY died on August 22, 2016 at the age of 87. Jennie was born on October 27, 1928 to Joseph and Marie Teresa Zingaro Variano. Her parents were one of the first Italian families to settle in Sleepy Hollow formerly known as North Tarrytown, She was one of eleven children and is survived by one brother, Joseph Variano, a resident of Jefferson Valley, New York, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Later in life she resided at Victoria Home, Ossining, New York.

While at Victoria Home, Jennie was involved in the many activities offered. She participated in the planning and preparation of seasonal events. She provided personalized calendars for the residents. In springtime, she was instrumental in initiating and maintaining a community garden. She was also Victoria Home’s one and only county-wide Golden Apple Olympian winning a bronze medal in her category of choice. Jennie lived a fulfilling life at this residence. Her family is grateful for the impeccable care given to her. The staff is to be commended on their commitment to the elderly, Never did a resident appreciate and love her caregivers more than she did.

Visiting and funeral services will be on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00. Burial will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
