James A. Mantey

James A. Mantey passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 in Tarrytown, New York.

Born on November 5,1979 James was the oldest child and only son of Una and Jesse -Amos Mantey. His early education began, at St. Teresa of Avila School. He attended Archbishop Stepinac High School.  During this time, he also worked at The Westchester Broadway Theatre, where his love for acting grew.  Later, he attended and graduated from SUNY College at Purchase with a B.A in Communications & Media. When James moved to The Golden State, he served as a Mortgage Loan Consultant for Cambridge Home Loans.  Later returned to the Empire State, were he interned as a Manager Trainee for Enterprise Rent-A- Car. Subsequently, James worked for JP Morgan Chase as a Relationship Banker. A well-rounded individual, the role James enjoyed most was his role as a bartender at River Market Bar and Kitchen.

To say James was well known and loved by many is an understatement. James loved everyone, especially the company of his family and friends.  His welcoming smile, humorous and fun-loving nature, kindness, and genuine concern for others are just a few of the reasons he was so popular amongst his friends and family. A die-hard New York Giants fan, James loved spending his free time with his son, fishing, and enjoyed quality time with his dear friends and family.

A loving son, dependable brother, devoted father, and an upstanding member of his community, he will be remembered with deep love and admiration by all who were lucky to have known him.

James is survived by his handsome and loving son, Kayden James Mantey, and his loving parents Una and Jesse, younger sisters Misty Mantey and Michelle Mulligan, nephews Jahlias, Jayden, and Prince, a niece Amor as well as many adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins across the world, and countless friends. We will miss him dearly.

Home-going services for James will begin with a viewing on Thursday, February 2nd from 3-8pm at Coffey Funeral Home at 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown NY 10591 and will be followed by his funeral on Friday, February 3rd at 10am at St. Teresa of Avila Church at 130 Beekman Ave. Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591.
