James M. Haggerty, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow died April 26, 2016 in Stamford, CT where he had recently been living. He was 92 years old. Born in North Tarrytown on November 4, 1923, he was the son of Charles and Catherine Martin Haggerty. James graduated from North Tarrytown High School and went on to serve in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
Jim had a long career in the automobile manufacturing industry having worked for General Motors for many years and finally retiring as a supervisor for Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ.
He was married to Mary Nicol who predeceased him on July 15, 2014.
Jim had been a member of the National Guard Communications Squadron #274. He was an avid golfer and will always be remembered playing his harmonica.
He is survived by his children James C. (Debra) of North Salem, Robert D. of Mahopac, Joan (Matthew) Venier of Emerson, GA and Nancy (Michael) Caterino of Oxford, CT. He is survived by 7 granddaughters and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are his brothers Charles and William both of Sleepy Hollow. In addition to his wife Mary, he was predeceased by his brothers John and Daniel and his sisters Margaret, Emma, Katherine, Ann and Mary.
Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Saturday at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be at 5:30 PM on Saturday.
