Harry Gerard McEntee of Poughquag, NY, loving known as “Bud”, born in Paterson, NJ on January
13th, 1934, left all those who love and admire him on earth on July 31st, 2016 to join the love of his
life, Marcia Joyce McEntee (May, 29, 2016) and his dedicated and loving sons, Marc Lewis McEntee
(May 20th, 2016) and Scott Alan McEntee (March 30th, 2015). It gives his family and friends comfort
to know that although Bud will be greatly missed, his heart will be full again as he reunites with his
family.
Bud was a man of courage and honor demonstrated by his service and honorable discharge from
the United States Navy. His “stay strong” mantra was further evidence of his courage but also of his
faith and belief in everyone’s ability to persevere. He believed in the best of people; even when they
didn't believe in themselves. He was also a man of athleticism and teamwork – his love of sports
was formally recognized when he became the recipient of a sports scholarship to NJ State College.
It was further demonstrated as an umpire and baseball coach, and it was optimized by the influence
he had on his incredibly talented sports enthusiasts’ sons.
Bud was a Graduate of Newark College of Business and attended Seton Hall University. His career
in retail management began at Bond Clothing in Paramus, NJ and later he transferred to Bethesda,
MD, managing the opening of a new store. Subsequently, he relocated his family to Dutchess, NY
where his profession in retail management advanced. His chosen occupation was evidence of his
ability to connect with people and to lead people; it was also a testament to Bud’s loyalty, a notable
cornerstone of what made him the man he was. As member of BPOE (Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks) of Wappingers Falls, NY, his best and most admired attributes were capitalized as he
was happiest when he was contributing to his family, to his friends and to his community.
As Bud reunites with his beloved wife and sons, he leaves behind a legacy and a responsibility to
those who love, respect and will honor him with their memories and appreciation for being the
McEntee patriarch. Amongst those friends and associates that have been touched by Bud’s genuine
giving and positive spirit – and who will forever remember the manager, the coach, and the sports
enthusiast; he will be also be lovingly honored and remembered as: Beloved father in law of Dorothy
McEntee of Croton on Hudson, NY. Adored grandfather of Jeffrey Alan McEntee of Poughquag, NY,
Shaun Harrison McEntee and Melissa Grace McEntee of Croton on Hudson, NY. Great-grandfather
to Carl Scott McEntee of Hyde Park, NY. Son of the late Harry and Grace (Uber) McEntee and sister
Geraldine McEntee. Respected brother to Jeanne and her husband Glen Herman, Jack and his wife
RuthAnn McEntee, and William and his wife Patricia McEntee of New Jersey and brother in law
Steven Friedman of Florida. Additionally, Bud was very much loved and survived by many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
With heavy hearts we lay Bud to rest. It is bittersweet to lose Bud as he will be incredibly missed and
we are at peace knowing he is going “home” to be with Marcia, Marc and Scott.
