Gloria R. (Gallello) Cavalieri

Gloria R. Cavalieri, a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow died November 29, 2016 at the age of 89. Born in New Rochelle on June 12, 1927, she was the daughter of Francesco and Francesca Gallello. Gloria and her 5 sisters were raised in the Bronx.

On November 12, 1950, she married Thomas J. Cavalieri in the Bronx and the couple later settled in North Tarrytown where they raised their family. While raising her family, Gloria worked at Cavalieri’s Market on Cortlandt Street and later worked alongside her husband at Tommy Cavalieri’s Italian Village Delicatessen serving customers and cooking all of the Italian specialties from 1974 until 1989 when it closed. Gloria was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors and the Neighborhood House. She will always be remembered for her love of family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dance and even in her later years when she had to use a walker, she would jump up at a moment’s notice and move to the ‘beat’.

Gloria is survived by her loving children Susan (James) Estes of Boonton, NJ; Lorraine (Robert) Dagostino of Mount Kisco and Thomas A. of Buchanan. She was also the loving grandmother of Christina Dagostino McGinn, Amanda Cavalieri, Gregory Cavalieri, James Estes and Daniel Estes and great grandmother of Gianna and Thomas McGinn. She is also survived by her sister Alba Liontonia. Gloria’s husband Thomas predeceased her in 1989 and she is also predeceased by her sisters Ella DiCosola, Rose Martignetti, Yolanda Mazzella and Marie “Dolly” Vasi.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Friday from 3PM to 8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Saturday at Transfiguration Church at 10:15 AM with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
