Welcome to the memorial page for

Francis C. Golier, MD

April 10, 1937 ~ January 2, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Dr. Golier, Francis C.

Francis Golier, of Briarcliff Manor, died January 2, 2016 of complications due to leukemia.  He was 78 years old.  He is survived by his wife, Susan; his sons Patrick, Christopher, and Timothy, all in whom he felt love and pride; daughters-in-law Kristyn and Amy; son-in-law Jason McGatlin; brother Robert; sister Ann Beresik; and his six beloved grandchildren, Grady, Christopher, Elizabeth, Audrey, Cassidy and Laurel. He was predeceased by sister, Bernice Nowicki; and brother, Paul.

Frank was born to Frank and Anna and was raised in Natrona Heights, PA, before graduating from the University of Pittsburgh. He never forgot his roots and was proud of his background.  He earned his medical degree in 1969 from Marquette School of Medicine in Milwaukee, WI, where he met his wife, Susan. The two married on June 17, 1967 in Chicago, IL. After receiving his MD, Frank moved his young family to Tarrytown, NY where he completed his internship and residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY.  He continued his training at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Bronx NY as a Resident and Fellow in Cardiology.

Frank loved medicine, and he practiced it for 46 years, as a cardiologist and founder of his own practice in Tarrytown, which eventually served Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, Sleepy Hollow, NY; Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry, Dobbs Ferry, NY; and Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.  He was board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine, and a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He retired in 2010 from private practice but, according to Frank, he “still had a lot to give” and he ended his retirement to return to medicine. Since then he served as Attending Physician of Cardiology at Montefiore.

Frank's family, including his grandchildren, were the most important things in his life.  In addition, he loved mountain biking, bird watching, country music, drumming, and spending time on Singer Island, Florida. He was truly a one-of-a-kind doctor who devoted his life to caring for his patients and their families.  He will be missed by family, friends, and many patients he's helped throughout the years.

Viewing will be Wednesday, 7-9pm, Thursday 2-4pm & 7-9pm, at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 N. Broadway, Tarrytown. Funeral Mass is Friday, 10am at Church of the Transfiguration, 268 S. Broadway, Tarrytown. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Cardiology department at the Montefiore Medical Center, at montefiore.org/giving, or by calling (718) 920-6656.
