Dorothy J. (Petrello) Roe

Dorothy J. Roe, a Tarrytown resident since 1951, died on Tuesday May 17, 2016. She was born in the Bronx to Louis E. and Angelina DeLucia Petrello where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. Prior to her marriage, she was a payroll clerk for the Aeolian Piano Company in Manhattan. On May 27, 1951 she married Harvey W. Roe at the Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Bronx. Together they built a home and raised their family in the “Heights’ section of Tarrytown. Her husband predeceased her in 1990. After her children were grown, she worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Tappan Hill School in Tarrytown retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Tarrytown Seniors. She was also a ‘Blanketeer’ for Project Linus. Her blankets would be used for hospitalized premature babies.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth of Tarrytown and Stanley and his wife Jennifer as well as her grandson Kyle all of Clayton, CA. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Sandra E. Calvarese in 2012 and her sister Irene Salese in 1978.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 10:00 at St. Teresa of Avila Church 130 Beekman Ave. Sleepy Hollow and interment to follow in Kensico Cemetery.
