Dolores H. ‘Dodie’ Foley, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow died peacefully on January 26, 2018 at the age of 93. Born in North Tarrytown on November 7, 1924, she was the daughter of Louis J. and Catherine Hayes Hutchings. Dolores was a graduate of St. Teresa’s School and North Tarrytown High School. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Buddy (Bernard) Foley in St. Teresa’s Church.
She went on to have a long and very full life. In addition to raising her family, she had been a secretary in the District Office of the Valhalla Schools for many years. She was a member of the St. Teresa’s School PTA, a volunteer at the Phelps Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, a member of the Republican Party of Sleepy Hollow and a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors. She was a lifelong Parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church which she loved dearly and she was so happy when North Tarrytown changed its name to Sleepy Hollow.
Dodie will always be remembered as a strong and independent lady who loved her family more than anything. She loved to travel and especially loved summers at Long Beach Island with her entire family.
She is survived by her children Catherine (Walt) Koval, Barbara Jean Foley, Denise (Tom) Dolan and Bernard H. Foley, her 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Gerard (Sherry) Foley. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Buddy in 1960, her daughter Patricia Ann (Hoppy) in 2013, many dear members of the Haines and Foley families and her dearest friends ‘The Girls’.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Wednesday at 11:00 with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
