Alyce Norbert Charles Coqueran, age 86, born in North Tarrytown, NY, on June 6, 1926, to Selina and Percival Charles, passed away peacefully at her home, in Tarrytown, NY, on December 29, 2012.

Ms. Coqueran is a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, who attended North Tarrytown Elementary School and graduated from North Tarrytown High School.

Ms. Coqueran moved to Tarrytown in 1954 and remained a resident of Franklin Courts for the rest of her life. Ms. Coqueran served on the Board of Commissioners for the Tarrytown Municipal Housing Authority for 27 years.

She was recognized for her dedicated service by the Tarrytown Municipal Housing Authority.

             Ms. Coqueran began working at Grasslands Hospital, now known as the Westchester Medical Center, in 1962 and retired at the age of 55 years old after 20 years of service. She also simultaneously worked on weekends at the General Electric Management Institute in Crotonville

Ms. Coqueran was one of the original Founders of the Tarrytown Community Opportunity Center and remained a Board Member of the Community Center for forty-one years. Ms. Coqueran was also the Site Manager of the Tarrytown Nutrition Program for Seniors for the Town of Greenburgh for fifteen years since 1992, while retiring in 2006.

Ms. Coqueran was also on the Board of the Neighborhood House for six years and a Member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also tutored at Abbot House and worked for the National Opinion Research Center.

                  On January 6, 2006, the Mayor of the Village of Tarrytown Drew Fixell proclaimed Alyce Coqueran Day, in Tarrytown, NY, for her dedicated service to the community. Ms. Coqueran was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, on December 4, 2009.

            Ms. Coqueran gathered with family and friends for her 85th Birthday celebration in Tarrytown, on June 6, 2011. She was honored at her milestone birthday with Proclamations from the Village of Tarrytown, the Town of Greenburgh and Westchester County. The proclamations announced that June 6, 2011, would be dedicated as Alyce Coqueran Day, in the Town of Greenburgh and Westchester County and June 7, 2011, as Alyce Coqueran Day, in Tarrytown, NY.

Ms. Coqueran is a lifelong parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church, on Beekman Avenue, in Sleepy Hollow.

Alyce Coqueran is survived by her daughters Alice Coqueran, Adrienne Coqueran, (Jimmie Howard), Arnelle Coqueran Ullrich, Aurette DeCuffa (Dennis), Angela Coqueran and sons Albert Coqueran (Martha Richman) and Anthony Coqueran: grandchildren Kirsten Robinson, Adam Johnson, Aisha Coqueran, Jordan and Jillian DeCuffa and Selina Ullrich and great-grandchild Olivia Johnson, also niece and nephew Clara and William Teagle.

There will be a viewing at Coffey Funeral Home located at 91 North Broadway, in Tarrytown, NY, on Wednesday, January 2 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M and 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 130 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow, NY, at 10:00 A.M on Janaury 3. Interment immediately following service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
